How do Fillers work?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance found in all living cells including our bodies, it has an extremely important function in our skin, along with collagen and elastin. Hyaluronic acid is responsible for attracting, retaining and keeping our skin hydrated, increasing its volume and density in the process.

Over time and due to the natural aging process, sun exposure, hormonal changes, genetics, and other factors, our skin begins to lose hyaluronic acid and collagen. Resulting in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity and volume. Dermal fillers work by increasing the supply of hyaluronic acid to the skin, dramatically improving the appearance of the treated area and smoothing your features.

Before your Treatment

If you are looking to achieve a smooth, fresh and youthful appearance without turning to cosmetic surgery, dermal fillers are highly recommended. However, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should wait to receive them or consult with our expert dermatologist. Also, if you recently had teeth cleaning or other dental treatment, you should wait, because the process requires pressure and a facelift that could potentially misplace the fillers.

During your Treatment

Dermal fillers are usually quick (approximately 30 minutes), but can vary depending on the area and the amount of filler required to achieve the desired results. We use a fine needle that is precisely placed in the treated area, local anesthesia is injected to reduce any discomfort or pain. You will notice visible results immediately after the procedure, but it takes 2 to 6 weeks to see the full result. Most of our fillers last 4-8 months, and we recommend getting a touch-up every 6-9 months to prevent the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

After Care

A dermal filler treatment requires minimal downtime and you can return to your daily activities immediately. Common side effects that should last up to a week include redness, edema, bruising in the treated area, the appearance of swelling or nodules, inflammation, and minimal pain.
